University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine Seeking Medical
Oncologists and Sickle-Cell Hematologist to Join Clinical Faculty
The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the
Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation
are seeking several Medical Oncology subspecialists and a
Sickle-Cell Hematologist including: Gastrointestinal Oncology
Genitourinary Oncology Neuroendocrine Oncology Neuro-Oncology
Hematology (Sickle-Cell) These positions will be at the rank of
Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full
Professor, tenure, or clinical track (non-tenure track), depending
on qualifications. The Carver College of Medicine is part of a
major research university and ranks 19th among public universities
in NIH research funding. The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is
a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center
that collaborates closely with the College and the University of
Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A particular strength of the program is
a growing portfolio of investigator-initiated and phase I trials
including many based-on research being conducted in University of
Iowa laboratories. The hospital is one of the largest
university-owned teaching hospitals in the United States and is
adjacent to the Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical
Center. The Division of Hematology-Oncology and Blood & Marrow
Transplantation has a broad mission, spanning benign and malignant
hematology and solid tumor oncology. Division faculty lead more
than 200 active clinical research trials at any given time for a
wide range of cancers and blood disorders and operate Iowa’s only
FACT-accredited bone marrow transplant unit. The division provides
services at University of Iowa Health Care, the Iowa City VA
Medical Center, and at several regional outreach sites in southeast
Iowa. Required Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD degree or
equivalent. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program is
required. Candidates will show evidence of a commitment to clinical
teaching, clinical research, and patient care experience in medical
oncology and hematology. Clinical experience in subspecialty
required. Desired Qualifications: Multiple years of experience in
subspecialty medical oncology or hematology is preferred. Phase one
clinical trial leadership experience would be ideal.
Certifications: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the
state of Iowa Must be board certified or eligible for certification
by the ABIM in Medical Oncology About Iowa City: The University of
