What You Can ExpectOur Electrical and Instrumentation Technician
Senior, located at the beautiful University of Iowa campus in Iowa
City, IA. will be responsible for maintenance and installation of
in-plant and/or satellite plant equipment. The work includes the
proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems,
computers, controls systems, and equipment that can directly affect
the safety and operation of the plantNo two days are the same in
this role. The only thing that is assured is that we are going to
start the day focused on safety. We will be lining out the days
work, and planning safety procedures as required by OSHA and
company policy. We will also ensure that we have the materials and
support to complete the scheduled tasks safely and efficiently.
Skills like reading diagrams and schematics and drawings of utility
systems are used daily. We also troubleshoot and install
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) both physically, and through
software and firmware configurations. You will also recommend
updates and system improvements for a variety of internal
groups.The daily work will consists of a variety of new
installations and upgrades, to unscheduled maintenance that will
challenge your troubleshooting skills. This position requires
multiple daily commitments. The first is to safety, the second is
to learning, and adapting to new systems, software, and maintaining
your expertise in your craft.This employee is required to be
on-call on a scheduled basis and must be able to respond on
location within one (1) hour of notification This role requires the
ability to work in confined spaces in the plants. You must be
physically capable of entering and working in a confined space
(crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the
like)What Youll BringThis role requires a minimum educational level
of a High School Diploma or GEDThis position requires a minimum of
six (6) years of experience; or a combination of experience and
advanced education or training that totals six (6) years, that is
directly applicable to this role. Such as, military training , or
an associates or certificate based program in electrical or
electronicsWith this six years of training and work experience you
will have gained knowledge and experience in servicing utility
systems, including four (4) years of industrial plant or power
plants and a minimum of one year of PLC and DCS programmingYou will
be experienced in proper application of hand tools, multimeters,
and other testing and repair equipment to effectively troubleshoot,
and repair electrical, instrumentation and controls equipmentYou
have experience applying proper electrical codes, manufacturer
guidelines and the regulations and guidelines of local, state, and
national electrical and safety codesYou are skilled in the
calibration of utility instrumentation, and knowledgeable in
control systemsMust have troubleshooting and maintenance skills in
CEMs, DCS, PLCs, Supervisor Control Systems, medium voltage
electrical and related control systems. We currently use RSLogix 5,
500, Studio 5000, RSlinx, Factory Talk, and PlantPaxStrong computer
background on PCs, emission controls, distributed logic controllers
(DCS), networks, and pneumaticsMust be able to read, interpret and
work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals,
control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate
all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and
national codesAccountable to immediate supervisor for ensuring
adherence to the Plants Safety and Environmental Programs, taking
all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance.
Shall immediately report any known or suspected violations to your
Supervisor and/or Management PersonnelYou are experienced in
network architectures and Ethernet networks using routers and
switches. You understand the variations in platform protocols and
understand the role of protocol layers in data networksYou have
developed strong communications skills and communicate
professionally via email detailed technical information and
instructionsYou complete written reports in the Maintenance
Management System. and communicate technical details and safety
concerns or instructions verbally with other technicians, vendors,
students staff and the general publicYou will have strong problem
solving and math skills and be able to perform problem
decomposition and stepwise refinement in problem solving, after
identifying the root cause of a problem you have analyzed available
options and made recommendations and implemented solutions to

drivers license/clean driving record as you will be operating

motions as requiredRequired to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to
accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to

indoors and 10% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee

Power Plant can be an extremely hot environment.Areas of the Power

to high.CompensationSalary Range: $ $32.78 $48.76 USD hourlyThis
represents the average expected pay range for a qualified
candidate.Actual offered salary may depend on geography,
experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment,
