Job Description:

Supports implementation of the ENGIE North America Health & Safety (HS) Standard and strategic initiatives at the University of Iowa campus. Facilitate all personnel safety training, monitoring and auditing at campus utilities operations, facilities, and construction sites. This is not a short-term project based position.

What you ll do:

At the direction of ENGIE s HSE & IPOS Director in Houston, supports implementation of the ENGIE North America Health & Safety (HS) Standard and strategic initiatives at the University of Iowa campus.

Facilitate all personnel safety training, monitoring and auditing at campus utilities operations, facilities, and construction sites
Responsible for supporting corporate reporting and trend analysis by ensuring that the campus reports all HS KPIs via the tools provided
Reviewing and revising procedures at the direction of the HSE & IPOS Director,
Answering any compliance questions raised by plant and corporate staff. Supports the HSE & IPOS Director in the development of new and revised existing fleet-wide HS compliance Policies, Programs, Processes and Procedures (4Ps), including interface with ENGIE wide HS teams

Candidate should exhibit skills in the following areas:

Manage H&S oversight and compliance for operations and maintenance facilities and for construction projects.
Acts as an H&S resource for staff, Front Line Supervisors, and General Foremen; instills role modeling across the organization through leadership engagement and adherence to the performance standard
Conduct or coordinate regular onsite training, supervision, audits, incident investigations, and safety culture assessments
Lead and direct all serious or ENGIE High Potential incident investigations; applies Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools when conducting investigations to determine causal factors; identifies countermeasures to prevent recurrence and eliminate deviations from the standard
Collaborate with site and fleet staff in the design, development and implementation of the ENGIE HS Standards for ENGIE utilities operations which includes policies, programs, processes, procedures and training.
Programs include lock out tag out, confined spaces, hazardous communication, and medical surveillance
Ability to work with contractors to ensure contractor s HS Standards are equal to or exceed ENGIE NORAM s HS Standards
Reviews contractor HS Execution Plans including oversight resource requirements to ensure full compliance with ENGIE Group Rules governing contract work
Performs assessments of construction site safety compliance. Completes risk assessments and work environment reviews for each project during the development and planning stages to inform contract HS requirements
Research new or revised OSHA (US) regulatory requirements; anticipate changes, advise management, and update necessary programs and training for effective, timely implementation
Manage H&S reporting and provides required monthly statistical reports to ENGIE NA corporate H&S staff; track the performance and progress of action plans, strategic objectives, programs, and processes
Calculates and graphically displays HS KPI performance data related to University of Iowa
Participate in the selection of third-party H&S auditors, consultants, and contractors
Exercise a communication strategy that promotes leadership engagement between management, front line supervisors, foremen, technician/craft personnel, and contractors to create a culture where H&S is a principle and not a priority
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of management both at the unit and corporate level, as well, as governmental agencies
All other duties as assigned by the HSE & IPOS Director

Qualifications

What you bring:

Bachelor of Science degree or a combination of a technical diploma and strong relevant experience
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST), or an Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or on track to achieve the CSP
Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience
Subject matter expert in OSHA (US).
Strong MS Office suite software knowledge, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
Statistical, Analytical, and research skills required
Exhibits excellent writing skills.
Exhibit mastery of root cause failure analysis tools and their application for recordable events
Possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and facilitation skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience with behavioral science and the psychology behind influencing change
Demonstrated ability to be organized and work on multiple activities simultaneously
Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments
Proficient in database management and analyses in direct support of essential job functions

Additional Information/Conditions:

Must be available to travel up to 10% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record
Ability to travel domestically and internationally on limited occasions
Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to weather conditions
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, etc.
Ability to lift and climb some lifting / up to 30 lbs
