The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Radiology Engineering is seeking an Engineering Coordinator. Responsible for day-to-day operation of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, diagnostic viewing and prefetching and other related activities. Works closely with your team to oversee complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system while ensuring timely access to diagnostic quality images are available 365x24x7. This position will require an ability to become proficient with an in-depth understanding of all Radiology interoperability and end user workflow and support.Duties Include: Review and assess information and determine methodology to be used to complete project. Perform short term work assignments, typically within the department. Perform complex tasks in accordance with design specs and standards. Communicate with project team members to assure project coordination. Review completed work to assure it meets all relevant specifications and regulations. Communicate with customer to verify finished product meets customer expectations and industry standards. Understand and use engineering principles and trouble-shooting methods. Communicate complicated server infrastructure and IT concepts. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Knowledge of and experience with IT designing, testing and other projects. Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.The information contained herein is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities required of individuals performing this job. Percent of Time: 100%Rotations: Staff members participates in on-call rotation and are required to be able to return to UIHC within a thirty-minute commute time. Staff members must participate in rotating-shift schedule.Education Required Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience Requirements 1-3 years' experience working with computer hardware and operating systems. Knowledge and experience of networking and computer operating systems. Demonstrated high mechanical aptitude. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Driver's license and ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Management Driver's safety requirements. Ability to participate in on-call rotations and be able to return to UIHC within a 30-minute commute time to and from UIHC.Desirable Qualifications Basic working knowledge of network routing and switching technologies. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. Demonstrated ability to install, maintain and repair high performance workstation hardware. Working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems. Working knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles. Demonstrated excellent problem-solving ability in order to resolve issues and insure functionality. Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently or within a team environment.
