Complete information regarding the full benefits package may be viewed at: *********************************** Percent of time: 100% Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday Location: University Services Building The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management (FM) is seeking an Application Developer to be responsible for performing duties covering the full software development life cycle, including Business Analysis to create end-user requirements, Programming, Testing, and Training. Support and documentation for in-house and installed third-party applications. Work with existing tabular cubes to produce dashboards and other BI reports. Provide maintenance, enhancements and end-user support for existing applications. Work closely with other members of the Facilities Management IT group to provide uniform application development and data interfaces for Facilities Management's client/server and web applications. Job Duties: Program, test, implement, support and document in-house and vendor software applications and data interfaces. Provide maintenance, enhancements and end user support for existing applications and occasionally provide on-call coverage for lower complexity issues. Partner with users to define system requirements, identify programming and output needs, create a functional requirements document, and verify preliminary design and output. Write documentation and educate customers/users in application functionality. Carry the project through the IT project lifecycle to implementation. Participate and assist with technical design and procedures for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, and programming standards. Analyze current and new programming languages, documentation, hardware, and software to identify possible applications for computer systems. Modify and/or write program code and/or job control languages as needed. Serve as functional contributor for translations of business practices into systems, document system procedures and guidelines for users, as well as programs and program modifications and serve as liaison for technical staff, vendors and other stakeholders. Review and analyze system problems including system documentation and production output to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals. Build and foster relationships, provide leadership in multiple areas of expertise. Assist with counseling to assure outcomes are achieved. Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 700 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design & construction, maintain & clean the buildings & the grounds, and provide utilities management. Education Requirement Bachelor of Science or Arts in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Required Typically requires 3-5 years of experience developing application solutions using Java and/or .Net framework (C#, ASP). Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server including stored procedures, functions and triggers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate progress reports and value delivered. Commitment to quality of work, operational excellence, and customer experience. Highly developed problem solving and analytical ability. Self-starter with a focus on continuous process improvement. Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization; demonstrated collaboration and relationship skills. Desirable Qualifications Experience with various technologies such as; J2EE, *******, Angular JS, IIS, Tomcat, REST, Spring, Hibernate and Ajax. Experience with SSRS or BIRT. Experience with SSIS, SSAS tabular model, and conforming data to star schema fact and dimension tables. Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, highly-available systems. Experience with components of Microsoft-based Web architecture including Windows Server and IIS. Experience with Agile SDLC and project management. GIT Version Control.
