Senior Application Developer - ICTS Biomedical Informatics The
University of Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Science
(ICTS) Biomedical Informatics Core is seeking a senior application
developer to administer, manage, and coordinate the continued
implementation of clinical trials management systems in the
Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, including OnCore
(Advarra Research Systems), a suite of clinical research management
programs. Also to serve as a resource and educator for all clinical
trial staff, faculty, and ICTS administration assisting in
mandatory reporting requirements and data requests from ICTS
leadership and faculty. - Duties to include but not limited to:
- Work closely with all clinical trial management staff to assist
in trouble shooting and proper use of the OnCore system. Seek
feedback on the functionality of the OnCore system with end users
and work with Advarra in identifying areas for improvement. -
- Assist in the design and maintenance of web site content for
ICTS supported clinical trials assuring appropriate ICTS clinical
trial information is accessible to UIHC staff, referring physicians
and the general public.
- Provide on-call coverage with HCIS and Advarra.
- Identify internal system solutions and work process
modification to meet data management requirements. Review and
analyze software defects, implementing fixes when appropriate. Plan
and implement server, database, and network solutions.
- Prepare and assist in the development of required ICTS reports,
and other reports as requested by faculty and administration,
including standard reports for core grant. Coordinate and aid in
the submission of required data as mandated by national funding
agencies. -
- Develop and provide OnCore user-oriented training and
documentation. Develop SOPs related to OnCore processes and
functionality. Monitor the quality assurance of data within OnCore.

- Provide oversight to projects as assigned.
- Serve as the ICTS OnCore representative in the
OnsembleConsortium and to software developers and customer support
staff at Advarra. Consult with Advarra personnel on product
enhancements and modifications.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information
systems, or information technology related field or an equivalent
combination of experience and education
- Minimum of five years in application development and support

- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication
skills -
- Excellent organizational skills. -
- Experience in teaching non-technical staff one-on-one or in
small group setting. - Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience working with OnCore clinical trials
management system. -
- Experience supporting biomedical research. -
- Experience with clinical applications, experience with SQL,
Microsoft Access, Jasper Studio, Oracle and relational database
designs -
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures. -
- Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures. -
- Experience or knowledge of EPIC interfaces and data structures.
