Job Description:
The University of Iowa, Department of Internal Medicine Division
of Endocrinology and Metabolism is seeking qualified faculty
members to join our team at the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor on the clinical track. This position offers a unique
opportunity to contribute to a leading academic institution
dedicated to advancing knowledge in weight management while
providing high-quality patient care. Compensation is based on the

Key Responsibilities include: - Patient Care: Conduct thorough
evaluations of patients, including obtaining medical histories,
performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests to
determine the underlying causes of endocrine and metabolic
disorders. Perform duties at outpatient clinics at various clinic
locations in and around Iowa City. - Diagnosis and Treatment:
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to include
dietary guidance, physical activity recommendations, behavioral
strategies, and appropriate medical interventions. - Patient
Education: Inform patients about their conditions and provide
guidance on lifestyle modifications, including dietary
recommendations and exercise regimens to improve health outcomes. -
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other faculty members to
enhance the division’s clinical services and research initiatives.
Participate in interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Research and Teaching: Participate in clinical research
initiatives related to endocrinology and metabolism. Mentor medical
students, residents, and other healthcare staff in best practices
for managing endocrine diseases. - Compliance: Ensure adherence to
all relevant regulations and standards of care, including HIPAA
compliance. Required Qualifications: - Education: MD or DO degree
from an ACGME accredited institution or completion of international
postgraduate training equivalent to U.S. standards required. -
Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program or
equivalent, or provisional licensure pathway for trained
International Medical Graduate (IMG). - Board Certification:
Candidates must be board-certified in Internal Medicine or in an
appropriate area (or non-U.S. board equivalent) or be in the
certification process (pending completion of residency or
fellowship). Desired Qualifications: - Training: Fellowship in
Endocrinology and Metabolism. - Certification: Board certified or
board eligible in American Board of Obesity Medicine. - Experience:
Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and
