The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa seeks a physician for an OBGYN Hospitalist position in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This role will be based at the medical center downtown, a low-acuity community hospital. Responsibilities will include obstetric triage, labor management, antepartum and postpartum care, emergency department consultations, performing emergency obstetric and gynecologic surgeries, post-operative care, consulting and backing up family practice obstetric providers, and certified nurse midwives. There is also potential for supervising residents, medical students, and certified nurse-midwifery students.Required qualifications include excellent clinical and surgical skills, excellent skills in patient management, strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated teaching skills, and commitment to team culture.A 1.0 cFTE position would require 7 shifts (24 hours each) monthly, on average, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts for additional compensation.Candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.Successful candidates must possess a medical degree (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO). This position requires completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in obstetrics and gynecology and should be ABOG board-eligible/certified. Five years of experience teaching and practicing in a busy obstetric practice is preferred. Candidates will be required to have licensure eligibility by the Iowa Board of Medicine and will be required to be licensed by the Iowa Board of Medicine before commencement of employment.Opportunity Highlights
