Nurse Innovator Program Liaison

The University of Iowa Office of Innovation is seeking an
energetic individual to manage the day-to-day implementation of our
new Nurse Innovation program. This individual will be responsible
for direct engagement with nurses at the UIHC and at select health
systems around the state of Iowa. This is a specified-term
appointment at 50% effort ending 6/30/25. Some travel required. Job
Responsibilities Develop, coordinate, manage and maintain
day-to-day engagements with nurse innovators at the UIHC and select
health systems across the state of Iowa.
Maintaining regular on-site presence at these locations.
Recruiting new nurse innovators into the program.
Providing guidance and assistance to those individuals in the
Manage the engagement of outside vendors and project
Develop and maintain positive relationships with local, state, and
federal governmental units.
Develop workshops to support nurses in hospital and community
Coach and mentor students involved in nurse innovation
Perform support tasks including scheduling, marketing, and
executing on-site programs and activities aligned with the Nurse
Function as a clinical liaison with the MakerHealth system,
answering questions, and ensuring positive first experiences.
Work with MakerHealth to ensure quality ongoing engagements with
participating nurse innovators, troubleshooting where needed, and
facilitating relationships between MakerHealth staff and
UIHC/partner facilities, personnel, leadership.
Connect participating nurse innovators with relevant external
organizations and resources needed to advance their projects toward
Assist the Office of Innovation with annual nurse innovator pitch
Working with nurse prospects to prepare presentations.
Assisting OI staff in planning and implementing the events.
Aiding oversight of awards.
Maintain internal database of program participants and their
project outcomes toward commercialization.
Prepare summary activity and outcome reports as well as other
outreach materials to highlight program accomplishments.
Travel expectations: Up to 5 days per month across the state of
Iowa. Required Qualifications Master's degree in health or science
related field with 2 years of experience; Bachelor's degree in
health or science related field with 4 years of experience; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to be a liaison and influence decision
Familiarity with hospital and clinical environments.
Must have valid driver's license and be able to meet the University
of Iowa Fleet Management Driver's safety requirements. Desirable
Qualifications Experience supporting new initiatives within a
hospital or health system.
Demonstrated ability to identify areas that require new solutions
or innovation to solve an existing problem.
Experience developing a prototype to solve a problem.
Community building and Inter-personal engagement.
Demonstrated ability to connect and engage with nurses and
healthcare leadership in new initiatives.
