Clinical Speech-Language Pathology Supervisor - Adult Neurogenic Language Disorders

Job Description:

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders have an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (50%) Clinical Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct services and supervise MA-SLP students in the area of adult neurogenic language disorders. This position is located in the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic, a thriving clinic that maintains active collaborations with the Veterans Administration Hospital and the UIHC Departments of Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery. Situated in a highly ranked and rigorous academic program, the position may include additional collaborative opportunities in research and/or direct clinical service provision. The ideal candidate will be interested in taking their clinical practice to the next level and passing their expertise on to the next generation of clinicians.

Duties to include:

* Case management, providing evaluation and therapy in individual or group sessions for adults with neurogenic language and/or cognitive communicative disorders; supervision of MA-SLP graduate students in clinical practice.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Certificate of---Clinical Competence---in---Speech-Language Pathology---(CCC-SLP)
  • At least 9 months post Clinical Fellowship
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech Pathologist in Iowa
  • Specific clinical expertise using evidence-based practice in the area of adult neurogenic language disorders
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with patients and/or students from diverse backgrounds
    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience with clinical instruction
    • Expertise in cognitive-communication disorders
