Work Schedule: The Iowa City VA Medical Center is an acute care
facility operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. While most tours
of duty are scheduled during the day, the possibility of "on-call"
and working evenings, nights and weekends does exist. "On call" and
shift changes, will be considered based on patient and facility
Dual Appointment: This position is a dual appointment with the
University of Iowa. Incumbent is expected to work at the Iowa City
VA for 5/8 and at the University of Iowa for 3/8.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System
(FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1)
Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension);
and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
How is the pension funded? VA employees hired after January 1, 2014
automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and
