Director of Reimbursement - Finance and Accouting Services University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics-recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States-is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center. Iowa City is less than four hours from Chicago and within five hours of Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City, readily accessible via interstate highways and a regional airport 30 minutes away.-- The Director of Reimbursement is responsible for the accounting, reporting, and control function related to all third-party reimbursement activities for the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, UI Physicians, and the Carver College of Medicine. Position Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and direct reimbursement processes, including reimbursement measurement and analysis, accounts receivable, third party payor liabilities, revenue budget and revenue forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directives from regulatory agencies and third-party payors
  • Direct the completion of the annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and other governmental reporting. Act as institutional liaison for Medicare and Medicaid fiscal intermediaries and auditors
  • Direct third-party payor liabilities and receivables for month end reporting
  • Provide fiscal consultation in reimbursement practices to department heads and senior administrators
  • Manage preparation for year-end audits by CPA firm and third-party auditors as they relate to third party payor liabilities
  • Develop complex financial forecasts and financial analysis. Present and provide interpretations to senior management, governmental relations, board office and legislative staff
  • Monitor/analyze regulatory changes affecting the systems revenue stream, advising administration regarding the financial and operation impact of potential, proposed, and implemented federal, state and payor rules and regulation changes Required Qualifications
    • A Master's degree in Business Administration or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
    • 5-7 years of relevant healthcare accounting experience in hospital reimbursement
    • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of complex financial and statistical analysis and presentation
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications
    • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment Desired Qualifications
      • CPA, MHA or MBA is preferred--
      • 3+ years reimbursement in an academic medical center setting including experience with Disproportionate Share (DSH), Graduate Medical Education, and Organ Transplants--
      • Knowledge of physician reimbursement--
      • Experience with Epic patient accounting system and Health Financial Systems (HFS) cost report software
      • Strong Medicaid payment supplemental methodologies with knowledge of Medicaid DSH, GME and/or Directed Payment experience is preferred Application Process: --In order to be considered, applicants must upload--resume and cover letter--and mark them as a "Relevant File" to the submission.
